Mail from Doctor Dutta when we (Shraddha & I) were at Texas USA. Date: Sat, Sep 6, 2008 Dear Ghugales, Good to see you are enjoying yourself very much. Indeed, one must, because there are few occasions in our journey through daily lives, fraught with so many things to fret about, worry and remain preoccupied. Therefore, a good break like this is required to unwind and re-live ourselves. Enjoy as much as you can and come fully recharged. Only be careful of physical pains etc. We are happy that you all are happy over there. Had it not been for Kamala's indifferent health and extreme recklessness, we too wanted to visit New Zealand during Christmas; but my cautious mind said 'no'. For, taking 16 hours flight and then not keeping fit thereafter in a new place could be awkward for us and Maggie too. The fun would be lost. Then thought of going to Malaysia and Singapore for 10 days. That too had to be dropped as Kamala had some unfinished agenda here, regarding disposing her flat. However, on October 15, we have booked to fly to Bangalore and spend the Diwali days with Bohagee and Sampanna. I would prefer that anytime over any other trips. Not exciting any more. Too old and handicapped, you see. Even the fun of shopping is nearly over. Better to be with my child instead. Looking forward to seeing you here sometime soon. Please do come or call us up. I could see you were buying loads of Chocolates. I used to enjoy them a lot in Europe; at times skipping meals for chocolates; but now no more Chocolates. One out of two here must not even touch one! I still only like good Cheddar and Gouda Cheese. Dorabjee keeps; but frightfully expensive. So, I avoid that too. What else? Your photographs came out well; but maybe due to the bandwidth problem, I found the resolution on my laptop rather less. Anyway, thank you immensely for thinking of us. Love to Jyoti and you two. On my birthday in the year 2021: Dear Dr Dutta, Today is my birthday. For my birthday, I made a video clip based upon a famous hit song. I am sending it to you. Dr P. K. Dutta visited our new house a few years ago. This is how we welcomed him. ‘Our welcome mat is out, just like before. But we have a different door. Welcome to our new home, Dr Dutta! Sit down, relax. Our home is not always like this. Right now, it is looking so good mainly due to your presence!’ This message was displayed on the TV screen with colourful wallpaper. Dr Dutta was incredibly happy and stayed for a few hours.

Acutely remembering Dr Dutta on the 10th day of his sad demise. The 10th day is of great significance in Hindu religion.

After Mrs Dutta‘s sad demise in October 2017, my wife Shraddha and I visited Dr Dutta’s residence. We had a long chat. Dr Dutta mentioned that he was contemplating going back to Assam. I wrote the following mail to him when he finally decided to go to his native place. 8 Nov 2017 Dear Dr Dutta, This is with reference to your mail to Shraddha. It was indeed our pleasure to meet you. It was nice to have a long chat with you after a long time. Reminded me of the good old days! It was wonderful to see the pictures when you were so young. I had read somewhere that a person may age & may look different due to aging. But the eyes remain the same irrespective of age. But in your case the eyes looked different too. We mean what we said about your coming to stay with us. You are most welcome anytime & all the time. We will send you SMS from our numbers so that you can save them easily. We wish you a happy journey to Guwahati via Delhi and comfortable stay at both places. Still, we would like you to come back to Pune soon. Best regards, Shraddha & Kumar
